Nicholas P. Douglas, 85, of Auburn, passed away peacefully on Feb. 13, 2018, in Rochester, N.Y.
Born in Fulton, Nick was a Korean War veteran having served with the U.S. Army. He was a graduate of Oswego State and Syracuse University majoring in technology education and administration. He retired from the Auburn School District where he taught technology education, photography, and driver’s education. He will be remembered for his talent in industrial arts. He could build or fix anything! Nick was a photographer in the military and carried a passion for photography throughout his life.
He is survived by his loving wife, Rita; children, Anastasia (Kenneth Pink), Christina (Joseph Nanna), and Faye (Petro Kontogiannis); grandchildren, Alexandra (Ryan Edwards), Domenic Nanna, Kenneth J. Pink Jr., Nicholas Nanna, Kostas (Haroula) Kontogiannis, and George Kontogiannis; and his great-grandchild, Petro Kontogiannis.
He was predeceased by his sister, Anastasia; his first wife, Matoula, and his parents, Peter and Panagiota Douglas.
Friends are invited to join the family for a Greek Orthodox funeral service to be offered at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, in St. Sophia’s Greek Orthodox Church, 325 Waring Road, Syracuse. Calling hours will be conducted from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 16, at the Cheche Funeral Home Inc., 1778 Clark St. Road, Auburn.
