Carmella Spinelli Scala, 96, the beloved wife of Louis Scala, of East Genesee Street, Auburn, died Saturday, June 2, 2018, at her home. A native of Auburn, Carmella was a communicant of St. Alphonsus Church.
In addition to her husband, Louis, Carmella is survived by one son, John and his wife, Charisse, of Auburn; three daughters, Marianne Meyer and her husband, Philip, of Auburn, Rosanne Kolb and her husband, David, of Rochester, and Barbara Altobelli and her husband, James, of Rochester; 11 grandchildren, Casey Stephens and her husband, Christopher, Kelly King and her husband, Brian, Adam Kolb, Daniel Kolb (Gina), Erin Kolb (Matthew), Sean Kolb, Christie Altobelli (Ryan), Matthew Altobelli, Paul Altobelli, Ben Scala, and Billy Scala; one great-grandson, Jacob King; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents, John and Martha Birardi Spinelli, she was predeceased by two sons, Louis Scala Jr. and Louis Gerard Scala; one grandson, Edward Louis Meyer; four brothers, George, Rocco, and Angelo Spinelli, and Frank Busce; and three sisters, Julia Spinelli, Frances Antonacci, and Rose Pisano.
Friends are invited to join the family for a Mass of Christian burial to be offered at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 6, in St. Alphonsus Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Calling hours for Carmella will be held prior to Mass from 10 a.m. to noon on Wednesday at the Cheche Funeral Home Inc., 1778 Clark St. Road, Auburn.
