Josephine Baiata DiMatteo, 88 the wife of the late Emilio DiMatteo formally of The Boyle Center, died Saturday, June 9, in Auburn Nursing Home. A native of Auburn, and throughout her life, Josephine was a communicant of both Saint Francis and Saint Mary's Churches. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Society, Saint Francis Church. Josephine enjoyed gardening, growing and arranging beautiful flowers. She loved her family and cherished the time spent with her granddaughter Julie.
She is survived by her son Michael DiMatteo and his companion Debra Eaton Meyer of Auburn; loving granddaughter Julie DiMatteo of Auburn; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents Guiauamo and Catherina Giacolone Baiata and her husband Emilio, she is predeceased by a brother Anthony Baiata Sr.; two sisters Rose and Genevieve Baiata; daughter in law Chris DiMatteo; and sister in law Lena Baiata.
The DiMatteo family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the Auburn Nursing Home, and it's staff, for the quality of care provided to Josephine during her time there.
Friends are invited to join the family for a Mass of Christian burial to be offered Monday, June 18 at 10:00 am in St. Mary's Church. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum. Calling hours for Josephine will be held Sunday, from 5 to 7 pm in the Cheche Funeral Home Inc., 1778 Clark Street Rd., Auburn.
