Judith M. Patella Petrosino, 90, the widow of the late Anthony A. Petrosino, of Mann St., Auburn died Tuesday, April 30, 2019 in Auburn Community Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Judy loved to bowl and was a member of the Cayuga Morning League "Coffee Time" girls. She enjoyed roller and ice skating, horseback riding and playing baseball with her kids. Judy loved ceramics and made many Christmas ornaments for her children and grandchildren. She cooked and baked, making everything from scratch and gave her recipes to anyone who asked for them. She volunteered her time with the Old Mother's Club and the St. Alphonsus Rosary and Altar Society and also volunteered cooking at the St. Alphonsus Rectory, starting at the old rectory and finishing in the new one. Judy served as Vice President of the Auburn Maroons Wrestling Boosters Club in the 1970's.
Judy lived a loving life with her six children, twelve grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was affectionately known as Gram, Nana, GG, Mima and Bama Judy. She loved each and every one of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She played cards, trucks, checkers and anything else they wanted her to play with them. She colored pictures with them, sending the pictures home with them to hang on their refrigerators. When her children were young all of the neighborhood kids would congregate and play in her backyard. Though she had six children of her own, many of those neighborhood kids called her Mom and Grandma Judy.
In her later years, Judy loved going to breakfast every day with groups of friends. She also took great pride in gardening and growing vegetables in her own back yard. Her children made her raised bed and containers so she could still garden when she could no longer bend down. She grew irises in front of her house and they looked like big orchids and had a beautiful rose garden with different color roses on the side of the house.
She is survived by five sons, Carl Petrosino (Ann) of FL, Anthony Petrosino (Patricia), John Petrosino, Frank Petrosino (Beth) and Thomas Petrosino (Karen) all of Auburn; one daughter Judith Gilmore (Bruce) of Mass.; two sisters Patricia Reginelli (Frank) of Auburn and Frances Lacavita (Anthony) of FL; twelve grandchildren; four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband Anthony and her parents Frank and Archangela Carella Patella, Judy is predeceased by two brothers Carmen and Joseph Patella; one sister Marian Colella; and a niece Patsy Lee Stroman.
Friends are invited to join the family for a Mass of Christian Burial to be offered Monday, May 6, at 11:00 am in St. Alphonsus Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours for Judy will be conducted Sunday from 4-7 pm in the Cheche Funeral Home Inc., 1778 Clark St. Rd., Auburn.
