Richard J. “Dick” Mendzef Sr., 80, the husband of Melva Dickson Mendzef, of VanAnden Street, Auburn, died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2018 in Syracuse.
He was a native of Auburn and following his enlistment in military service in 1955, Dick served in both the United States Navy and later the Army National Guard for 36 years. He was employed and retired from Budweiser of Baldwinsville and also owned Adam and Sara’s Inc. Auto Sales in Auburn.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons, Scott Mendzef and his wife, Laura, of Camillus, Richard Jr. and his wife, April, of North Carolina, Steve Squires and his wife, Tina, of Auburn, and Adam and his wife, Deborah, of Weedsport; three daughters, Christine Mendzef, of Camillus, Katrenca Stam and her husband, Chris, of North Carolina, and Sara Meneilly and her husband, Hugh, of Lafayette; 10 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents, John and Rose Jaworiski Mendzef.
Calling hours for Dick will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, 2018, at the Cheche Funeral Home Inc., 1778 Clark St. Road, Auburn. There will be no funeral service.
